The chemical, compounding, and emulsion industries are becoming more involved with the use of vulcanized and reclaimed materials. These industries are turning their attention towards finer and more refined vulcanized powders (i.e. rubbers and other polymers smaller than 80 mesh or 177 µm) and away from coarser granules that preoccupied or hindered development and usage in the past. The growing interest in UltraFine powders has been propelled primarily by the trend toward clearer product differentiation. As margins for chemical commodities tighten, manufacturers look for ways to add value to their products by making them easier to use and improving their performance. For the UltraFine powders, this has led to finer sizes, more-exact particle size distributions, uniform sphericity, increased surface area morphology, and precisely proportioned mixtures to control particle shape characteristics and other properties. When properly added to the compounding or blending system, very synergistic properties can be achieved |
